Just because it made me laugh…

January 7, 2010

I guess it seems like I’m going to town on Stephen Harper, but gotta love this blog post from Scott Feschuk of MacLeans.

Nortel comes up again.

September 23, 2009

As a true intersection of electronics engineering, politics, and my home city of Ottawa, Nortel will always be a big story for me.  Although I have never worked there myself, I know many who have, and some who are still there right now.   It is a company that truly affects the Ottawa (and to some [...]

Obama in Ottawa

February 19, 2009

It’s like when the Beatles came! Ottawa is a buzz with anticipation as the newest American president makes his first foreign visit.  People have bussed in from around the area, just to be near him (the public will not get a chance to see him)  Wow, the expectations for such a short trip! Well, I [...]

Senate Appointments?

December 22, 2008

Really Mr. Harper? This is what you do with your prorogue? I have no words…

Harper’s adjustment of the truth

December 4, 2008

Despite dissing Dion in the last post, I still wanted to put down Harper’s rhetoric.  The Coalition is within it’s rights to do what it wants to do.  It is not “illegitamate” as Harper would like you to believe. This blogger sums it up pretty well: http://jepaikin.wordpress.com/2008/12/02/its-demo-crazy/?referer=sphere_related_content/

What is Dion thinking?

December 4, 2008

Although I didn’t see the video’s myself, other anti-Harperites I’ve talked to said it was embarrassing.  How could they have screwed up something so important? At this point I might be in support of the prorogue.  Let everything cool down.  Give Harper and Flaherty a chance to do something good, and let the Liberals get [...]

Attack on Canadian Democracy

December 3, 2008

With the current mess that is Canadian politics, I  hope this attack on the public funds for political parties is not overlooked.  If this were to go through, we could end up with an American style 2 party system, with the Corporations who donate to the parties pulling the strings.  Of course, the Conservatives (and [...]

Canadian Government Mess

December 2, 2008

Well, look where we are now.  The government needs to talk to the Governer-General (representative of the Queen of England, for all you American readers) to decide what to do with this.  Darth Harper has made it far too hard for the opposition parties to accept the budget, as he attempts to rip out their [...]

Election Day in Canada!

October 14, 2008

I became very busy with work and holidays and have been a negligent blogger–but better at least say something today. I just hope that the Conservatives do not get a majority.  If the world’s current financial crisis has taught us anything, it’s that unregulated capitalism and short-term thinking can get you into trouble.  The UK [...]

Tale of two elections

September 5, 2008

An observation on the two elections coming up from Marty Klinkenberg of the Telegraph Journal.  I like how he sums up the differences in the campaign style, and the the mood of the voters. I personally am quite a bit more interested in how the American election will go.  Far more intriguing!
